Text: Matthew 28:1-10
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher.
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake and became as dead men.
5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the central focus of Christianity. The resurrection of Jesus Christ can be described as the result of preaching.
1 Corinthians 15:3 & 14
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
Evidence of resurrection can be seen from the rolling of the stone.
Because Jesus Christ arose, every stumbling stones in your life creating instability will be rolled away IJMN.
Lesson from the resurrection of Jesus Christ
1. Life is stronger than death. So therefore, light is stronger than darkness.
John 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
To be victorious in your battles in life, it is not by your size but by who is behind you.
An example is David and Goliath.
2. When the enemies thought they have done their worst the stage is just set for Jesus our Lord.
3. Whoever has written you off, God is just starting with you.
4. Nothing is so wrong that can not be made right. If Jesus can wake the dead then there is nothing our maker can’t do.
5. God always reserves the best for the last. God does not do a mega miracle in a hurry.
6. One act of God can counteract all the negative attempts of the enemies in your life
Impacts of the power of the resurrection
Matthew 28:18
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
1. The power broke the agenda of the enemies over our life and confirmed with the power of God.
The power of resurrection stripped the rob of the enemies and left them naked.
2. It enforces or bring back relationship back to God.
3. It brought fulfilment of promise.
4. Came to recreate man
2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new.
5. It brought about the new dispensation of grace from the old dispensation of laws.
6. It restores hope and confidence for all of us.
The Secrets of the power of the resurrection
1. Power of love
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
2. Power of obedience and command
John 10:18
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
2 Corinthians 10:6
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Deuteronomy 28:1
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
3. Power of righteousness and holiness.
Romans 1:4
4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
4. Power of purpose. You are created for a purpose.
How to achieve this?
Make your ways right with God.
Live a complete life of obedience with God.
