AND NOW..

  1. GOD’S WORD IN MY WORSHIP.

Introduction:

Let me give you some advice on how to stay safe in the world today:

  1. Avoid riding in automobiles because they are responsible for 20% of all fatal accidents.
  2. Do not stay at home because 17% of all accidents occur in the home.
  3. Avoid walking on streets or sidewalks because 14% of all accidents occur to pedestrians.
  4. Avoid traveling by air, rail, or water because 16% of all accidents involve these forms of transportation.
  5. Of the remaining 33%, 32% of all deaths occur in hospitals. Above all else, avoid hospitals
  6. You will be pleased to learn that only .001% of all deaths occur in worship services in church, and these are usually related to previous physical disorders.

Therefore, logic tells us that the safest place for you to be at any given point in time is at church gathered for worship!

So we’re really glad you’re here with us today – the safest place on earth! It is important for us to talk about worship today –

DEFINITION OF WORSHIP: Reverent devotion, honor and/or service to God.

Your personal devotion or quiet time is act worship to the Lord, your giving of your tithes, offerings, Firstfruit is worship to the Lord. Prov.3:9-10. Your service in that ministry and department is an act of worship to the Lord.

THREE QUESTIONS IN RELATION TO OUR WORSHIP

  1. WHO DO WE WORSHIP?

Some unbelievers Borough officials who went to a church service. Their comments. Can that be true of some believers who disengage themselves from the God we worship and come to church for other reasons. Thanksgiving Sunday or Thanks-partying Sunday?

We need to fully understand who we are offering worship to.

DEFINITION OF WORSHIP: Reverent devotion, honor and/or service to God.

Let’s look at some biblical examples of worship statements that help us to define just who it is we worship.

WORTHY CREATOR

Rev.4:11 NLT “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

This is an identification of God as worthy, and as Creator.

HIS RICHES, WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE

Romans 11:33 NLT

[33] Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!

Here is a declaration of God’s riches, wisdom, and knowledge.

DOING WONDERS

Exodus 15:11 NLT

[11] “Who is like you among the gods, O LORD- glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor, performing great wonders?

This is a proclamation of what God does for us which no man can do.

WORKING THROUGH US.

Eph. 3:20. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. – Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)

Here we find a statement of worship based upon what the Lord does through us, His people who have declared Him our Lord and our God.

Now I could give you literally hundreds of statements like this, but I want to get to the main point. Here it is – when we worship God; whether it be together on Sunday, or on our own in quiet time, or with some friends in a small group, we will not be able to fully worship until we stop to consider that God is Worthy – that He is the Creator – that He is the Savior – that He is all-powerful – that He is the One who has loved us and sheltered us, and secured for us a place in His kingdom. That He freely forgives us…That He provides for us…That he cares about every little details of our lives….We need to move beyond going through motions of worship, until we understand just who it is we are worshipping.

But the one thing that each of us must do, is getting this one thing right – that the God we worship will not accept worship that is not directed to Him. Jesus said:

“You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.” – Luke 4:8 (NLT)

And the God that He was talking about is the one with all the wonderful qualities we’ve been talking about so far today.

Don’t be like those Paul said in Acts 17:23 were worshipping the unknown God.

ABRAHAM JOURNEY TO DISCOVER THE GOD TO WORSHIP.

  1. WHY DO WE WORSHIP?

We worship God because we are compelled to worship Him. Worship is a part of our spiritual DNA as human beings. It is something that has been instilled within us by Almighty God.

“Our entire being is fashioned as an instrument of praise.

IN FACT ALL THINGS WERE CREATED TO WORSHIP GOD.

Revelation 4:11 KJV

[11] Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

FOR THIS REASON…

MOUNTAINS AND HILLS SING… ISA.55:12

TREES OF THE FIELD CLAP THEIR HANDS…ISA.55.12

LUKE 19:40. STONES WERE READY TO SHOUT ALLELUYAH IF HUMANS WILL NOT.

REV.4:7-8 DESCRIBES FOUR BEASTLY ANIMALS AROUND THE THRONE OF GOD…ONE LIKE A LION…OX…EAGLE..EACH WITH WINGS ALL COVERED WITH EYES.. WHAT WERE THEY DOING…24/7…SAYING..

HOLY HOLY HOLY IS THE LORD ALMIGHTY, THE ONE WHO ALWAYS WAS, WHO IS AND WHO IS STILL TO COME.

SUN AND MOON PRAISE HIM. PS.148:3

HEAVENS OF HEAVENS PRAISE HIM. Ps.148:4

WATERS PRAISE HIM. PS.148:4-5

THE SEA CREATURES PRAISE THE LORD. PS.148:7

NOW ALL THE ABOVE WERE CREATED BY GOD AND THEIR PURPOSE IS TO WORSHIP GOD.

NONE OF THEM WAS CREATED IN THE IMAGE OF GOD EXCEPT YOU, SO WHICH OF HIS CREATURES WILL HE PURPOSE TO WORSHIP HIM MOST.

SAVED TO WORSHIP

Why do you think the Father sent the Son to die on the cross? Salvation, Better life but the main reasons God saves us is so that we can worship Him for all of eternity.

OUR MAIN PURPOSE IN LIFE.

It is to discover God and to worship Him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength.

WHEN THAT PURPOSE WAS TRUNCATED IN THE GARDEN, GOD SENT HIS SON JESUS TO RESTORE THE PURPOSE BY DYING ON THE CROSS.

YOU CAN BECOME A PURPOSE DEIVEN CHRISTIAN TODAY BY SURRENDERING YOUR LIFE TO JESUS AND RECEIVE YOUR DESTINY OF UNBROKEN WORSHIP TO YOUR CREATOR.

John 1:3 NLT

[3] God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.

  1. HOW DO WE WORSHIP?

JOHN 4:23-24 NLT

“The time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.  For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” – John 4:23-24 (NLT)

TO WORSHIP GOD IN SPIRIT IS TO CONNECT OUR SPIRIT WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD AS WE PRAISE HIM.

TO WORSHIP IN TRUTH IS TO GENUINELY VALUE INTIMACY WITH GOD AND BE SURE WE KNOW WHO WE WORSHIP.

CONCLUSION

ABRAHAM’S JOURNEY

When Abraham got fed up with the gods that have hands but could not do anything with those hands, he left his father’s idol shop and began to search for the true living God.
